A Monday in a tailor shop (a composite story)

4:10 pm. The phone rings. Again.

Sunita wants to know about her blouse. So does Rajesh, about his kurta. You put the needle down, find the notebook and turn the pages.

The chit is gone.

A torn page and a smudged number. The customer has to come back to be measured again, and she is not happy about it.

Friday becomes Saturday.

Nobody knew the blouse was stuck at finishing. The date passes. The festival does not wait.

Same shop. Same cloth.

One board. Everyone sees the same truth.

Every order lands on a board by stage. The counter, the cutting master, the stitcher and the customer all look at the same thing, so nobody has to ask.

No more digging

Search a name or a number and the order is there, with its measurements.

No more “is it ready?”

The customer opens a link on WhatsApp and sees it themselves.

No more surprises

Late orders show in red, and orders due today or tomorrow in amber, so you see them before the date passes.

How it works

Three small habits. The chaos goes away.

At the counter

Take the order once.

Measurements are saved per person: Self, Wife, Son. Next time they are already there. Pick the neck and sleeve from a list in Hindi or English, set the date, take the advance.

On the shop floor

Workers tap Done.

Big buttons, Hindi labels, only the job in front of them. No signal? The tap waits on the phone and goes out when the internet is back.

At the customer's end

The customer looks for themselves.

One WhatsApp message with a link, or a QR code on the receipt. They see the stage, the date and the balance. No login, no app to install.

Hindi and English

Each person chooses their own language. Garment names and measurements are in both.

Works on a weak signal

The app opens without internet and keeps Done taps until the connection returns.

Fabric photo to WhatsApp

Take the photo and send it. SilaiBook does not keep it.

On any phone

Add it to the home screen on Android or iPhone. An Android app is in testing.

Questions tailors ask

Does it cost anything?

No. SilaiBook is free to use.

Do my workers need to read English?

No. Each person picks Hindi or English for their own screen. Job cards show only what that worker needs, in big type.

What if the internet is weak in the shop?

The app opens from the phone. When a worker taps Done with no signal, the tap waits on the phone and is sent when the connection returns. Creating new orders needs internet.

Is my customers' information safe?

Each shop's data is separate from every other shop's. Workers cannot see customer names, phone numbers or prices. An owner can erase a customer's personal data at any time.

Do I need a computer or a printer?

No computer. A phone is enough. If you have a printer, you can print a receipt with a QR code and a small tag to pin on each piece of cloth.

Before the next festival rush

Make your next rush a calm one.

Set up your shop in about five minutes. Bring one real order and watch it move across the board.
